传说中，女娲是一位神通广大的女神，据说她还用泥土捏出了人类。
有一天，天空突然破了一个大洞！
天火熊熊燃烧，洪水从洞里灌进来，到处都是麻烦，人们吓得四处躲藏。
女娲看到这一切，心里非常着急。她决定要把天空补好。
她跑到河边，一颗一颗地挑选五种颜色的石头——红的、黄的、蓝的、白的、黑的——挑了整整五天五夜。
接着，她把石头放进炉子里，用神火将它们熔化成又软又亮的浆液。
女娲小心翼翼地，把这些五彩的浆液一点一点地补到天空的破洞上。
补好之后，她又找来一只巨大的乌龟，砍下它的四条腿，稳稳当当地立在大地四方，当作四根柱子，把天空重新撑了起来。
天空补好了，柱子也立稳了，大火熄灭了，洪水退去了，世界又重新变得安安静静。
女娲补天讲的是天空破了一个洞，女娲想办法把它修好的故事。这个故事告诉我们，遇到再大的困难，只要肯动脑筋、肯努力，也能把事情解决好。
Legend says that Nüwa was an incredibly powerful goddess, and that she was even the one who shaped the very first humans out of clay.
One day, a huge hole suddenly appeared in the sky!
Fire blazed through the gap, floodwater poured in below it, and trouble was everywhere — people were frightened and ran to hide.
When Nüwa saw this, she knew she had to fix the sky.
She went down to a riverbed and carefully collected stones of five different colors — red, yellow, blue, white, and black — searching patiently for five full days and nights.
Then she placed the stones into a great furnace and, with a magical fire, melted them down into a soft, glowing, colorful liquid.
Very carefully, bit by bit, Nüwa used this molten stone to patch the hole in the sky.
Once the patch was done, she found a giant turtle, and used its four sturdy legs as four pillars, setting them firmly at the four corners of the earth to hold the sky steady from then on.
With the sky mended and the pillars standing firm, the fires went out, the floodwaters receded, and the world became calm and peaceful once again.
Nüwa Mends the Sky is about a goddess who sees a huge problem — a broken sky — and calmly, patiently works out how to fix it. It's a gentle story about using care and cleverness to repair something that seems impossibly big.
